After working for many years as an Austrian career diplomat, then as the Head of International Communications and Government Spokesperson for the Principality of Liechtenstein, Dr. Gerlinde Manz-Christ now passionately devotes herself to business and public diplomacy, combining the art of diplomacy with successful business. She advises businesses, governments, and organizations in strategic and diplomatic communication, and Public Diplomacy.
She has successfully dealt with numerous political and international crises in Japan, Israel, New York, Vienna, and Liechtenstein. The multifaceted pioneer and adventurer was the first and up to now only foreigner to work in a traditional Japanese industrial group in Sapporo, North Japan. She was the first woman to head the Austrian Foreign Ministry’s Press and Information Department. And she was one of the first Non-Native American people who were allowed to complete the Journey of the Waters which is sacred to the Apache people.
Today, Dr. Manz-Christ is a lecturer at the University of Innsbruck and the Diplomatic Academy Vienna, among others. One of her specialties is Public Diplomacy, i.e. informing and influencing foreign publics.
Dr. Gerlinde Manz-Christ has been awarded the Grand Decoration of Honor in Silver with Star for services to the Republic of Austria and is a Grand Officer of the Order of the Star of Jordan. In 2013 she was added to the Hall of Fame at the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna. Since 2014 she is an Honorary Member of the OCEANS Network of the European Commission.
